But most important, we want to remind you that the 2002 College & Career Convention starts *tomorrow*, and we hope to see you there! College & Career Convention
November 7-9, 2002
Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa St., West Hall B
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Thursday & Friday
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday
Admission to the Convention is free and open to the public.
Please attend anytime during the 3 Convention days. Bring your family and friends to learn about the value and affordability of a college education, and to have fun! You should plan to spend a couple of hours at the event in order to tour the exhibit floor and attend a workshop or two. Here's a snapshot of the exciting activities:
* OVER 100 EXHIBITORS from colleges, financial aid resources, and career paths will provide instant access to college and career info
* CAL GRANT representatives will tell you how you can apply for the amazing Cal Grants program - "Free Cash For College" of up to nearly $10,000 per year to every qualifying California student
* EXPERT WORKSHOPS on what you need to know about college admissions and financial aid will repeat every half-hour
* PLAY "PASSPORT TO COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE" GAME, a fun information scavenger hunt designed to increase your college knowledge
* TEN $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP PRIZES will be awarded in a drawing for Convention attendees who play the Passport Game
* FREE PARKING will be provided on Saturday, Nov. 9, for the first 1,000 cars at the West Hall parking entrance on Pico Blvd. (between Figueroa and Cherry St.)

ABOUT THE FREE CASH FOR COLLEGE PROJECT
Free Cash For College is a new project designed to expand access to opportunity for L.A. families. Led by Mayor Jim Hahn's "Invest In People" Task Force, a coalition of over 70 leaders in business, education, labor, community-based organizations and government, the project aims to build a secure future for the L.A. workforce. Through a series of community events, the project aims to increase awareness of the significance of higher education and spotlight the many existing finacial aid opportunities available for college.
